The General Manager is responsible managing, growing and maintaining the effective and profitable operations of the dealership as a whole.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan dealership operation for upcoming year and present proposal to owner and stockholders
  • Organize activities or implement changes for all departments through planning and motivating to achieve objectives
  • Review and recommend enhancements for each department managers monthly forecasts and plans
  • Monitor and control general overhead expenses for the dealership
  • Conduct management meetings on a regular basis
  • Communicate dealership policies and procedures to management to ensure they understand and follow dealership practices
  • Resolve any client questions, concerns or complaints unresolved by line management
  • Establish high level of quality and teamwork among departments and ensure that every department works amicably with each other, and has effective delegation and control
  • Maintain responsibility for management personnel functions including; interviewing and hiring procedures , measuring and evaluating performance, recognizing accomplishments, and terminating employment
  • Analyze and approve salary and bonus incentive plans for all employees
  • Ensure that all departments adhere to municipal by-laws, as well as federal and other statutes
  • Represent and act as spokesperson for dealership
  • Monitor and maintain acceptable customer service levels; initiate programs to bring customers service to acceptable levels
  • Consider global perspective when setting long and short-term objectives for the dealership in keeping with manufacturer goals

Requirements:

  • Post secondary diploma/degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 years experience in dealership preferred
  • Solid understanding of car dealership environment, sales & finance
  • Varied business experience
  • Ability to set effective, efficient time schedules
  • Ability to prioritize workflow
  • Ability to think strategically about ways of enhancing dealership performance and productivity
  • Desire to exceed customer expectations
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Solid focus on the importance of customer relations
  • Computer literate
